Archambo, Elizabeth (8 Oct. 1883 - 17 June 1942)

Joint funeral services will be held for Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Archambo Friday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the farm home one mile west and one fourth mile south where the two bodies were taken Thursday morning, and at 1:30 at the Presbyterian church here. The Rev. George Griffiths will officiate and internment will be made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

The body of Xavier Archambo, 63, was found Tuesday afternoon in the shed at the stock yards. Mr. Archambo was brooding over the ill health of his wife who had returned home a week ago from Rochester, Minn., where she had been receiving medical treatment. Clark county coroner H. L. Brown said there would be no inquest when the body was found hanging by a rope. The time of death was fixed at about 10:30 Tuesday morning.

Mr. Archambo was born in Merrill, Aug. 2, 1879, and married Miss Elizabeth Patitz, of Curtiss, June 18, 1905. For the first few years of their married life, they made their home with Mr. and Mrs. George Thayer on a farm near Curtiss. About 28 years ago they moved to their farm in the Town of Colby, Wis.

Mr. Archambo also had been engaged in buying cattle. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

who survives with four sons and a daughter, Victor at home, Royal of Sheboygan, James of Chippewa Falls, Theodore of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Arnold (Elizabeth) Laack, Abbotsford, Wis.

Mrs. Archambo, 59 years of age, whose death occurred early Wednesday morning, was born Elizabeth Patitz, in the town of Mayville, near Curtiss, Oct. 8, 1883. At an early age, her mother died and she made her home with Mr. and Mrs. George Thayer. After her marriage to Xavier Archambo in 1906, they continued to live at the Thayer home until they moved to their present farm.

To them were born four sons and one daughter, all of whom survive their parents: Victor at home; Mrs. Arnold (Elizabeth) Laack, Abbotsford; Royal of Sheboygan; James of Chippewa Falls, and Theodore, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Archambo had been in ill health and had gone to Rochester, Minn., for treatment, She was home about a week, and last Monday, when very ill, was brought to the home of her daughter, where she died of complications at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Home Mission, the O.D.O. club and the Royal Neighbors.

There are also five grand children: Jean and Harlan Laack, Abbotsford; Carol and Frank Archambo, Sheboygan and Mary Beth Archambo, Chippewa Falls.

Mr. Archambo is survived by a brother, Joseph of Merrill, and a sister, Mrs. Nora Wilcox of Duluth, Minn.

Mrs. Archambo is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Julius Seifert and Mrs. Harvey Culbertson, Appleton, and Mrs. Fred Pudlas, Curtiss. There are three half-brothers: Theodore and Herman Patitz, Glidden; and Edward Patitz, Ontonagon, Mich. The three half-sisters are Mrs. Lee Jensen, of Dorchester; Mrs. Edna Schultz and Mrs. Reginald Marshall, Chicago.

Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Archambo, whose deaths occurred last Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, were held Friday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the farm home and at 1:30 at the Presbyterian church. Rev. George Griffiths officiated at the services, during which two hymns, "My Jesus, I Love Thee," by ? and "Still, Still, With Thee," were sung by Mrs. A. ? and Miss Jessie Merrill, with accompaniment by Mrs. W. R. ? Internment was made in the ? cemetery.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Archambo were ? Korntved, Rudy Sterzinger, ? Benz, Frank Nikolay, ? and Elmer Leichtnam.

Those who acted as pallbearers for Mr. Archambo were Ed Leichtnam, ? Reil, August Schueler, George ?, Frank Sterzinger and Frank ?.

The many beautiful floral offerings were carried by ladies of the Ladies’ Home Mission, Royal Neighbors, and the O.D.O. club of which she was a member: Mrs. ? Nelson, Mrs. L. Carlson, Mrs. ?, Mrs. Peter Hanson, Mrs. Charles Hoff?, Mrs. R. H. Treat, Mrs. L. R. ?, Mrs. M. C. Bunnell, Mrs. Martin Anderson, Mrs. Kelley, Mrs. Viola Rusk, Miss ?, Mrs. J. A. Rilling, Mrs. ?. Mrs. Helen Holtzhausen, Mrs. Steffen, Mrs. M. C. Thompson, Ella Barney and Mrs. Fred ? [not all the names have been transcribed in this paragraph or the following; the left margin was cut off and much was unreadable]

Relatives from away who attended the funeral included: Mrs. Royal Archambo and ?, Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. James Archambo and daughter, Beth, Chippewa Falls and Theodore Archambo, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
