Peterson, Nels G. (1878 - 26 Nov. 1942)

Masonic rites were accorded Nels G. Peterson, 64, Milwaukee, at the funeral services held at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, Monday afternoon. The Rev. A. C. Riley, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated at the prayers and the burial in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Pallbearers were W. C. Hoffman, Dr. J. A. Rilling, Kenneth Ingersoll, Edward Leichtnam, Martin Anderson and Walter Jackson, all of Abbotsford, Wis.

The flowers were carried by ladies of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Peterson was born and educated in Colby and was married to Miss Susan Parkhill of Riverside. For about 20 years the Petersons lived in Abbotsford where Mr. Peterson had a machine shop. After moving to Milwaukee Mr. Peterson continued to own their house, located on the north end of Main street.

On Thanksgiving day, after dinner, Mr. Peterson was returning from taking guests home when he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while driving alone in his car. He was taken to Emergency hospital where he died about two hours later, never having regained consciousness.

Surviving him are his widow and five children, Vernon of St. Louis, Mo., Pvt. Lee Jerome Peterson, Indianapolis, Ind.; Miss Anna Marie, Milwaukee; Mrs. F. L. Johnson, Chicago; and Mrs. Neil Vater, Withee. All attended the funeral except Pvt. Lee.

There are also a grand son and a grand daughter, children of Mrs. Johnson, until recently of Withee.
