Oelke, Gustave (8 Feb. 1861 - 6 June 1943)

Funeral services for Gustav Oelke, 82, who died Sunday, were held this afternoon at 1:30 at Lulloff’s Funeral Home at Colby and at 2:00 o’clock at Christ Evangelical Lutheran church at Abbotsford, Wis. The Rev. J. Brandt officiated at the rites. Internment was in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Pallbearers were Frank Bernitt, Gust Hintz, Ed Hemberger, Ernest Laper of Abbotsford, John Riemer and Oscar Pueschner, Stetsonville.

Gustave Oelke was born in Germany, Feb. 8, 1861. He came to the United States at the age of 21. His marriage took place in Richland Center, in 1890, to Miss Pauline Muth. To this union were born seven children. Anton Frederick died in infancy and Mrs. Oelke preceded him in death on June 5, 1935.

In 1912 they settled on a farm at Stetsonville and lived there until 1926 when they retired from farming and made their home in Abbotsford, Wis.

For the past few years he made his home with his daughter, Rena, Mrs. Carl Lueth, at Hartford, Wis. Mr. Oelke died there Sunday evening after a short illness of about a week. He was 82 years, three months and 28 days old.

Six children survive: Mrs. Freda Nikolay, at Baraboo; Bernard, at Ableman; Herman at Richland Center; Edward and Henry at Stetsonville; Mrs. Rena Lueth, at Hartford. Nine grand children, two sisters and one brother also survive.
