Phipps, Arthur William (7 November 1870 - 4 November 1951)

Arthur William Phipps, age 80, died at a cottage on Rock Lake in Chippewa County on Sunday, November 4, at 2:15 p.m. Death was due to a heart attack.

The body lay in state at the Bergeman Funeral Home until Wednesday when it was taken to the Wittkopp funeral Home at Plymouth, where it lay in state until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Burial was made at Green Bush, Wis.

Mr. Phipps was born on November 7, 1870, at Fond du Lac to Thomas and Elizabeth Schouler Phipps. He was married to Almida Smith and they moved to a farm in the Town of York in 1915. They resided there until Mrs. Phipps and one daughter, Edna, died during the influenza epidemic in 1918. On November 10, 1920, he was married to Allie Canfield Frank at Neillsville.

He is survived by his second wife and three children: one daughter, Mrs. Louie (Lizzie) Rhodes of Fond du Lac, and one son George Phipps, from his first marriage and one son, Judson, from his second; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Fred of Kohler and Walter of Green Bush, and one sister, Mrs. Amy Fischer of Cedar Grove. Two daughters by his first marriage preceded him in death. They were Edna and Mrs. Conrad (Esther) Jacobi.
