Wood, Mary Margaret (Marriage - 9 Oct. 1943)
The following account was taken from last Saturday’s issue of a Menominee, Mich., newspaper:
"In St. John’s church, which she attended since childhood, Miss Mary Margaret Wood, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Wood, was married today to Donald I. Dickinson, this city, son of George Dickinson, now of Wausau. The young people spoke their vows before the Rev. James J. Corcoran at a 9:00 o’clock nuptial mass.
"Miss Wood was attractive in a street-length frock of gold sheer wool, with which she wore a brown hat and accessories, and a cluster of yellow rosebuds at her left shoulder. About her neck was a gold locket and chain which was the bridegroom’s wedding gift.
"Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wood, the bride’s brother and sister-in-law, were the attendants. Mrs. Wood wore a street-length dress of military blue crepe, with dubonnet accessories, and a pink and white rosebud corsage.
"Mrs. Wood saw her daughter married in a dress of teal blue crepe, which she wore with black accessories and a shoulder bouquet of pink rosebuds.
"The children’s choir sang at the mass and Miss Irene Jenkins played the organ. Palms and vases of gladioli decorated the altar and sanctuary for the ceremony. Patrick and Angus Wood, brothers of the bride, served the mass.
"Breakfast was served at the Hotel Menominee, where covers were placed for 20 family members. Autumn flowers decorated the table, which was centered with a tiered white wedding cake. A reception for 100 guests was held in the afternoon at the home of the bride’s parents.
"The couple will leave this evening for a wedding trip to Milwaukee and Madison and for traveling the young bride has chosen a red frock and black accessories.
"Mr. and Mrs. Dickinson will reside in this city. The bride is employed by the Lloyd Manufacturing company and her husband by the L. E. Jones company.
Wausau guests at the wedding included the bridegroom’s father, George Dickinson, Mr. and Mrs. George Drumm, Mrs. Winifred Pokallus, and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Dickinson.
