The Purple Heart award has been given to Sgt. Wayne Hegg, who was wounded in action in Italy.
Sgt. Hegg has written his father, Frank Hegg, who is the meat cutter at the Northwest Food Market, that he has recovered from his wounds and expects to return to duty soon. He has been overseas since Dec. 1.
