An Unusual Accident Results in Death

Sam Markham, the Greenwood hunter who fell from a tree one day last week and was not found for three days thereafter, died at his home on Wednesday last. The circumstances of the accident which caused his death, a full account of which was given in the News of last week, seem more like romance than reality. His fall was caused by the squirrels that gnawed in twain the fastenings of the hammock in which he was reclining while watching a deer lick from a tree top. The internal injuries which he sustained from the fall together with the exposure he suffered from being compelled to lie for three days where he had fallen, before he was discovered, made his recovery impossible at any time after he was found although everything possible was done to resuscitate him.
