Walkama, Jean Elizabeth (Marriage - 12 June 1945)

Wearing an entrained white net and lace frock over taffeta, Miss Jean Elizabeth Walkama, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eino Walkama, Owen, exchanged wedding vows with Herbert Irving Goessl, of the Town of Hoard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving Goessl, of Curtiss, in a wedding ceremony, read in the Holy Rosary Catholic church at Owen, June 12, at 9:00 a.m. The Rev. Francis Brockman, Abbotsford, officiated at the High Mass.

The white net frock was inserted with lace and fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, lace sleeves and a ballerina skirt. Her finger tip veil of illusion was caught to a rhinestone headdress and she carried pink and white carnations. For jewelry she wore pearls.

Miss Mercedes Goessl, a sister of the groom, was maid of honor, and Miss Mary Walkama, a sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Both wore blue dresses styled with jersey bodices and full net skirts. Matching blusher veils caught to blue tiaras completed their costumes and they wore shoulder corsages of pink and white carnations.

Thomas Mulvanny, Milwaukee, a cousin of the groom, and Edwin Zowal, Withee, attended the bridegroom.

Following the ceremony the bridal party was served breakfast at the groom’s home and dinner and supper were served at the Walkama home, decorated with pink, blue and white streamers. One hundred guests attended. In the evening a wedding dance was given at the Dorchester recreational hall.
