Barts, Madeline (Marriage - 6 Nov. 1945)

A beautiful, all white wedding took place, Tuesday, Nov. 6, in St. John’s rectory, Wuerzburg, when Miss Madeline A. Barts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barts, of Colby, became the bride of Kenneth Schreiber, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schreiber, of Milan. The Rev. Raymond Schultz read the services at 1:00 o’clock.

The bride wore a white satin gown designed with a sweetheart neckline, scalloped bodice and full skirt with a long train. Her long veil with lace inserts and edging was held by a poke bonnet. She carried a shower bouquet of red roses and white carnations. A string of pearls, the only jewelry she wore, was a gift of the groom.

Attending her as matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Harry Bungert, of Colby, Wis. She wore a frock of white ninon.

The two bridesmaids, Miss Carmella Schreiber, Milan, sister of the groom, and Miss Erma Barts, Colby, cousin of the bride, were gowned alike in frocks of white satin with sweetheart necklines, three-quarter length sleeves and full net skirts with satin appliqués.

All the bride’s attendants wore shoulder length scalloped veils with floral wreaths. They carried colonial bouquets of pink and white carnations and yellow and white chrysanthemums.

Gilbert Schemenauer, Athens, cousin of the groom, was the best man, Clarence Schreiber, another cousin, and Everett Denzine, both of Athens, were ushers.

Following the ceremony there was a reception and 4:30 dinner for the immediate families and relatives at the home of the bride’s parents. An all white three-tier wedding cake formed the center piece on the bridal table where covers were laid for 75 guests.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at the Trianon. Relatives and friends from Athens, Abbotsford, Colby, Milan and Unity attended.

The bride is a graduate of the Colby high school class of 1945. The groom, who is engaged in farming, was graduated from the Abbotsford high school in 1942.

Mr. and Mrs. Schreiber are now at home to their friends on the groom’s farm near Milan.
