Meinhardt, August #2 (30 NOV 1884 - 17 JUL 1950)

At two o’clock this afternoon funeral services were conducted from St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, for August Wilhelm Meinhardt, who passed away at his home in the city late Monday night, July 17, 1950, after an illness of four months. The Rev. Walter Schedler officiating at the service. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Wirtula, Julius Rohland, Ray Petke, Adolph Cizik, Ralph Miller and Ed Fredericks.

August, one of three sons was born on Nov. 30, 1884 in the Town of Centerville in Manitowoc County. As a young man he became engaged in the occupation of farming, having developed large farms in Sheboygan County and later moving to Clark County. He had been a resident of this community for nearly 20 years. Six years ago he retired from arming, establishing a residence in the city.

He was always active in community affaires and a devout Christian. Ever since coming to this community he has been a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, having served the past eight years as a trustee and a member of the church council.

Surviving his passing are his wife Mary, two daughters, Mrs. Walter Petke and Mrs. Arthur Petke, both of Withee; two sons, Arthur of New London and Franklin of this city; two brothers, Otto of Greenwood and Oscar whose home is in Sheboygan, Wis., as well as a wide acquaintanceship of friends in the community.
