Kitze, Mary (20 NOV 1880 - 30 SEP 1950)

Friends of Mrs. Herman Kitze were saddened by the news of her death which occurred after an illness of three week’s duration at the Eau Claire Sacred Heart Hospital Friday, Sept. 30, 1950.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Holy Rosary Church. The requiem high mass was sung by Rev. Raymond Bornbach. Mrs. Kitze’s five sons and a son-in-law, John Piltz, served as pallbearers. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery. The Christian Mothers’ Society of the Holy Rosary Church and friends recited the Rosary at the home Monday evening.

Mary Kernosky was born in Bay City, Mich., Nov. 20, 1880, and attended the Bay City schools. She was married in 1903 to Herman Kitze. They lived in Albuquerque, N.M., Byng Inlet, Canada, and Bay City, before coming to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1920, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Kitze was active in parish work in Owen for eighteen years. Although confinement to a wheelchair for the past twelve years of her life limited her activities in community affairs, the scope of her interests did not narrow. Accepting her invalidism with cheerfulness and patience, she continued her quiet devotion and service to her family.

She is survived by her husband, five sons, Edward, Chicago, Ill.; Theodore, Lake Geneva, Wis.; Clarence, Owen; Frederick, Park River, N.D.; William, Owen; and three daughters, Elaine (Mrs. John Piltz), Rudolph, Wis.; Marjorie (Mrs. William Armbrust, Jr.), Medford, and Lois, Madison, Wis.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Dexter Packard, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Joseph Flynn, Dumont, N.J.; Mrs. Andrew Fenske, Bay City, Mich.; two brothers, Phillip, Detroit, Mich.; and Frank, Chicago, Ill.

Nine grandchildren also survive.
