Barbara, the 16 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Barager, gave her parents a real scare when she swallowed the eye from one of her toy kittens while playing in bed Friday afternoon.

Her mother suspicioned that she may have swallowed the eye, which had an inch long steel shank on it, when she took her playthings from her bed after she had gone to sleep. The child, though seemed alright and it wasn’t until after she had awakened from her nap and let out a painful cry while trying to put on her overshoes that her suspicion was further aroused. Early Saturday morning Barbara began regurgitating frequently and it was then that x-rays taken at the office of Dr. B. H. dike confirmed her parent’s suspicions.

The youngster was immediately rushed to Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, when it was believed that surgery might have to be performed. Upon arriving at the hospital, addition x-rays showed that the object had dropped into the intestines so it was deemed advisable to wait for further developments. Fortunately the baby passed the object at 1:30 Sunday morning and is now home feeling quite normal after the exciting experience.
