Wirkuty, Maureen C. (15 OCT 1935 - 15 NOV 2013)

Maureen C. (Freezy) Wirkuty, 78, Loyal, passed away on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Rev. Douglas Bjerke officiated. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Douglas Wirkuty, Justin Wirkuty, Trevor Olson, Tim Fisher, Kyle Abel and Rick Freezy.

Maureen Carole Freezy was born on Oct. 15, 1935, in Granton, the daughter of George and Erna (nee Lueck) Freezy. She attended Neillsville schools and was united in marriage to Walter Wirkuty on Dec. 8, 1951. They lived in Pittsville until moving to Eugene, Ore. Maureen worked for many years at Central Linn School in Hasley, Ore. They moved to this area, and resided in Loyal in 2004 and purchased the Loyal Drive In. Walter died in 2006, and Maureen operated the Drive In until 2012. In her spare time, Maureen enjoyed her horses and reading.

She is survived by two sons, Justin Wirkuty, Marshfield, and Douglas (Melinda) Wirkuty,
Loyal; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ted (Karen) Freezy, Spencer, Alan Freezy, King, Walter Lueck Jr., Huntley, Ill., and Bradley (Judy) Lueck, Fountain, Colo.; three sisters, Patrine (Bob) Parks, Huntley, Ill., Nellie (Jim) Eckland, McHenry, Ill., and Laynie (Charles) Easter, Huntley, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Antonette Jane; three sisters, Ilene Freezy, Paulene (Freezy) Timm and Georgia (Freezy) Ziller; and one brother, Denis Freezy.
