Handke, Mary (10 NOV 1873 - 3 JUN 1907)

Monday morning about 5 o’clock, septic peritonitis caused the death of Mrs. Otto Handke, who lived on the Ridge east of the city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.). Her death is deeply mourned by her great number of friends and relatives, for she was a woman of exceptional merit and kindness. She was a model and loving wife, a splendid mother and a kind and charitable neighbor.

Mrs. Handke was the daughter, Mary, of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Lezotte, and was born in the town of Grant Nov. 10, 1873. On Jan. 12, 1897 she was married to Otto. A. Handke, and four children were born to her. The children remain to comfort their sorrowing father. Seven brothers, Mathias, Anthony, Adolph, William, John, Charles and Joseph, and one sister, Catherine Yankee, also survive her.

Too many words of praise cannot be said of Mrs. Handke for she was as good and patient a woman as ever lived. The funeral occurred yesterday.
