Hotvedt, Ann (Marriage - 24 Aug. 1946)

While the guests were assembling for the wedding of Miss Ann Hotvedt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hotvedt, of Nelsonville, and Tech. Sgt. George Garbrecht, son of Mrs. William Garbrecht, Abbotsford, in North New Hope Lutheran church, Saturday evening, Aug. 24, an organ prelude was played by Mrs. Carl Torkelson, sister of the bride.

Mrs. John Hotvedt joined in the playing of the "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" at the piano, as the bride, on the arm of her father, entered the church. Vows were exchanged in a double ring ceremony before the altar, banked with gladioli. The Rev. J. E. Swenson read the service at 6:30 in the evening.

Miss Mae Hoffman, of Stevens Point, sang "Because" before the ceremony, and "I Love Thee" by Grieg, after the ceremony. Mendelssohn’s "Wedding March" was played at a recessional on both organ and piano.

For the ceremony the bride wore a gown of white satin, styled with sweet heart neckline, long sleeves, pointed over the wrists, and buttons down the back. Her finger tip veil fell from a head piece of orange blossoms. She wore a string of pearls, a gift of the groom, and carried a bouquet of American beauty roses.

Her only attendant was her sister, Miss Lila Ruth Hotvedt, who wore a blue gown with lace bodice and net over satin skirt. She carried a bouquet of blue, pink and white carnations.

Arthur Garbrecht, of Abbotsford, brother of the groom, was best man. Fred Garbrecht, another brother of the groom, and John Hotvedt, brother of the bride, were ushers.

Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner for approximately 80 guests, was served in the church parlors, beautifully decorated with bouquets of gladioli.

The bride is a graduate of Central State Teachers’ College, Stevens Point, where she was a member of Alpha Kappa Rho and Sigma Zeta. She was active in music work, serving as accompanist for glee clubs and also as soloist. She taught in the Abbotsford high school the past year.

The groom is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school and has been in the army for seven years, 15 months, of which he spent in the Aleutians. He reenlisted in the army and is now serving with the Air Corps at Selfridge, Mich.

Tech Sgt. and Mrs. Garbrecht are at home in Mt. Clemens, Mich.

Among the guests from a distance attending the wedding were Mrs. William Garbrecht, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Garbrecht, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Garbrecht, of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Joe O’Day, Seattle, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Noonan, Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Ellingson and son, Donald, Rush City, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Massie, Chetek; Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Larson and Lois, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. N. E.
