Konik, Lawrence R. (9 June 1928 - 24 Apr. 2009)

Lawrence R. Konik, 80, of Owen, died April 24, 2009.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. April 29 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the town of Maplehurst Cemetery in Taylor County.

Konik was born June 9, 1928, to Andrew and Marguerite (Sorenson) Konik. He was a farmer in the town of Maplehurst until 1977 and became an owner of a semi-truck operation. Konik married Wanda Piotrowski on March 5, 1952; she died Oct. 1, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Konik is survived by his children, Larry (Margie) Konik and Shelly (Jim) Kawa; two sisters, Betty Hansen and Margie Hamm; brother James Konik; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
