Christie, Jane #2 (1 DEC 1833 - 29 SEP 1907)

After a long and useful life, the greater part of which was spent in aiding the development of Clark County (Wisconsin), Mrs. Jane Christie passed away last Saturday. She was born in London, England, Dec. 1, 1833, and when a child came with her parents to the United States. Mrs. Christie had been married twice, the first time to Mr. Bostwick. Four sons were born to this union. Mr. Bostwick was killed in the army. In 1862 Mrs. Bostwick was united in marriage to James Christie, and two years later they settled in Clark County, taking up a homestead about 11 miles north of this city. Four children were born to them, three daughters, two of whom are dead. Mr. Christie died 24 years ago, and until 6 years ago Mrs. Christie lived on the home farm. Since that time she has made her home with her son, Joseph, who runs the home place, and her daughter, Mrs. Adolph Hemp, at whose home in this city she died. The funeral was held Tuesday, Rev. Hendren of Greenwood and Rev. Burrows officiating. Mrs. Christie was a very estimable and good woman and while her period of usefulness to her associates is gone, the deeds she has done serve as a pleasant memory and make her death a regretted one.
