Dmytro, Leo (3 Apr. 1916 - 29 Apr. 2009)

THORP -- Leo Dmytro, 93, of Thorp, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, in Thorp. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Eau Claire.

Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary; and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leo Dmytro, 93, of Thorp, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp. The Rev. Keith Apfelbeck will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Eau Claire.

Visitations will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at Thorp Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church Thursday.

Dmytro was born April 3, 1916, in Cicero, Ill., to Theodore and Pauline (Makitra) Dmytro. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in England. After discharge, Dmytro married Sylvia Ames, who died in 1978. He was an accountant at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds until retirement in 1979. He married Alice Badzinski on Aug. 15, 1981, in Thorp.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Thorp; stepchildren Dorothy (James) Stephens of Waupaca, John (Justine) Badzinski of Coon Rapids, Minn., Jean (Gene) Mercer of Mosinee, Karen (Rick) Schlabowske of Waupaca and Gary (Pamela) Badzinski of Apopka, Fla., 16 stepgrandchildren, 23 stepgreat-grandchildren, 4 stepgreat-great-grandchildren and brothers William (Cecilia) Dmytro of Lublin and Michael Dmytro of Thorp.
