Wiese, Francis Edward (April 20, 1914 - May 5, 2009)

Francis Edward Wiese, age 95, Abbotsford, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Golden LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, Wis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford, Wis. The Rev. Benjamin Franklin will officiate. Burial will follow in Abbotsford Public Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the church in Abbotsford on Friday.

Francis was born April 20, 1914 to Frank and Magdalina (Elfert) Wiese in the Town of Mayville, Clark County. He attended Pleasant Hill School.

Francis married the former Mary Kittl on July 27, 1940 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.

Francis farmed for several years before moving to the City of Abbotsford in 1947. Once residing in Abbotsford, Francis worked for the Harold Zank Meat Plant and H.D. Kennedy Groceries, both located in Abbotsford, Wis. Francis was also engaged as a carpenter for 40 years for the H.K. Christensen Co.

He enjoyed hunting and crappie fishing and loved his Canadian fishing trips. After his retirement, Francis and Mary made woodcrafts. Francis was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and a proud member of the Abbotsford Fire Department for 30 years.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary of Abbotsford; his children, Michael (Shirley) Wiese of Colby, Juanita (David) Krug of Owen, Loretta (Carlton) Pecher of Abbotsford, Audrey (Ted) Calmes of Rhinelander and Dean (Brenda) Wiese of Abbotsford; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by two sisters, Ethel (Nick) Schommer of Butler and Esther Wunsch of Butler; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Wiese of Milwaukee and Alice Kittl of Rhinelander; special friends, Ron and Lois Maldonis of Abbotsford; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Norman in infancy; two brothers, Clarence and Kenneth; and three sisters, Helen, Amelia and Margaret.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.
