Eleanor was born July 4, 1921, to George and Emma (Ellerbruch) Freier in Elmhurst, Ill. She attended grade school at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Addison, Ill., until eighth grade. During schooling and later years, Eleanor helped her parents with raising a vegetable farm and housekeeping. She met Ray Rose in 1944, and during their nine-year union, she had three children, Ray, Wanda and Judy. Eleanor later married Lee Mitchell, who had two children, LuAnn and Cindy, in 1960 in Elmhurst, Ill.

During her employment years, Eleanor worked 30 years at Dresser Industries in Addison, Ill., as a factory worker making torque wrenches for the military. Eleanor cared for her mother for eight years in her home after her father's passing. She then enjoyed doing crocheting, plastic canvas and quilting.

Retiring, Eleanor and Lee moved to Suring, where Lee's brother, Matt, nephew, Tim, and their loved ones lived. Then in 1988, they moved to Owen, where her daughter, Wanda, was residing. Her husband, Lee, passed away in 2002. She then resided with her daughter Judy in Owen, where they kept busy traveling, cooking, sewing, making memory bears (she was mama bear), embroidering, baking and playing Yahtzee games and enjoying visiting with all her family. She always wanted to stay busy. Eleanor was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee.

She is survived by her children: Ray Rose of Chadwick, Ill.; Wanda Rose of Marshfield; Judy Willacker of Owen; LuAnn Mitchell and Cindy (Tim) Vanatta of Scappoose, Ore.
