Waltemate, Earl H. (9 July 1933 - 12 May 2009)

NEILLSVILLE -- Earl H. Waltemate, 75, of Neillsville, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. The Rev. James Gordon will officiate. Inurnment will be in the town of Grant Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting Earl's family with arrangements. Earl H. Waltemate was born July 9, 1933, the son of Louis and Edith (Koonz) Waltemate. Earl worked on the Mississippi on a river boat as a young man. Earl spent eight years working for American Motors in Milwaukee, then spent 10 years working at Belgium Elevator in Belgium before working for Nelson Industries (Cummins) where he retired. After retirement, Earl worked part-time for Abby -- vans making sure people would get to their appointments.

Earl is survived by his wife JoAn (Durham); children, Roxanne (David) Taylor of Plymouth, Ronald (Kari) Waltemate of Green Bay, Roger (Renee) Waltemate of Neillsville, Robyn Rollins of Sheboygan and Roberta Doescher, of Neillsville; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Earl is also survived by a brother, Larry (Joann) Waltemate of DuQuion, Ill.; and two sisters, Norma Donovan of St. Genevieve, Mo., and Mary Alice Carter of Elkville, Ill.
