Meske, Betty Jo (16 JUN 1953)

A lovely wedding took place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church on Tuesday morning, June 16th, when Father A. M. Muckerheide joined in holy matrimony at a Nuptial High Mass, Mr. Felix Straskowski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Straskowski, and Betty Jo Meske, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Meske, all of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.)

The altars were beautifully decorated with white and pink peonies and gladioli by the Sisters of St. Bernard’s Parish.

Miss Betty Jo Meske walked down the white carpeted aisle by the side of her father who gave her in marriage. She place a white bouquet of flowers at the Blessed Virgin’s Altar before the double ring ceremony.

The bride was gowned in a floor length dress of French lace and net over satin, and her fingertip veil was held in place by a coronet of seed pearls. Her bridal bouquet consisted of white roses and an orchid.

Betty Jo chose as her attendants, her sisters, Miss Dolores Meske as maid of honor and Miss Beatrice Meske as bridesmaid. They wore identical white accessories. Their colonial bouquets were of white carnation, baby’s breath and red roses.

Mr. John Pachalski of Chicago, cousin of the groom, attended the groom. The groom and his attendant were attired in summer tuxedos with white carnation boutonnieres.

Little Rose Ann Blaczynski, niece of the bride, was a flower girl. She wore a lovely white frosted organdy hoop skirt dress, and her bouquet was the same as the bride’s other attendants.

The ring bearer, little Gerald Rygiel, nephew of the groom, wore a white suit, and carried a beautiful white satin heart shaped pillow.

The bride’s and groom’s mothers wore navy blue dresses and shoulder corsages of pink roses.

A dinner was served to close friends and relatives at the bride’s parents home.

In the evening 130 relatives and friends of the bride and groom attended the supper at Club 73.

A free wedding dance was given at the American Legion Hall in the evening. Emil Kodli Orchestra furnished the music.

After a honeymoon to the west the happy couple will be at home on the groom’s parent’s farm.
