Schmitt, Margaret (28 Nov. 1863 - 3 July 1949)
Funeral services for Mrs. John Schmitt, Dorchester, who died Sunday, July 3, were held Tuesday morning, July 5, at St. Louis’ Catholic church, Dorchester, with the Rev. Phillip T. Weller officiating at the requiem high mass.
Margaret Fuchs was born at Sheboygan, Nov. 28, 1863 and was reared there. She was married to John Schmitt on April 28, 1883, at Marathon City. They lived there and at Wisconsin Rapids and Medford before moving to Dorchester in 1914 where they operated a general store. They lived in Abbotsford for a number of years when their daughter operated Tillie’s Store. Mr. Schmitt died Oct. 14, 1946.
Survivors include four daughters, Miss Mathilda Schmitt, at home; Mrs. F. V. (Clara) Hiebsch, Dorchester; Mrs. E. J. (Isabel) Fuchsgruber, Dorchester, and Mrs. Elsie Koppa, seven grand children and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Kiefer, Green Bay, and Mrs. Elizabeth Treutel, Crandon.
