Berry, Mabel (27 July 1889 - 10 Nov. 1949)

Last rites for Mrs. William Berry, 60, who died at her home in Colby, Wisconsin at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, were held Sunday afternoon. The body lay in state at the Lulloff Funeral home until 1:30 when short services were conducted by the Rev. F. J. Smith. At 2:00 o’clock services were held at the Colby Methodist church and internment followed in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

During the services conducted at the church, one hymn, "Moment by Moment," was sung by Audrey Whitney and Annabelle Klaar. Miss Rena Bauer was pianist.

Pallbearers were Claude Whitney, Charles Lindboe, Harry Bender, C. A. Nelson, Harvey Bitter and Fred Schwierske, Sr.

The flowers were in charge of the American Legion Auxiliary of the Hanson-Terrio Post, the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the W.B.A. Lodge.

Mrs. Berry was born Mabel Hanson at Marsailes, Ill., July 27, 1889, daughter of Jim and Mary Hanson. About 1896, the family moved to Dorchester, Wis.

On May 16, 1908 she was united in marriage to William Berry and lived in Abbotsford, Wis. Eleven years ago she moved to Colby, Wis.

Surviving, besides her husband, are a son, Walter, Loyal; Mrs. Kenneth (Joyce) Kratochwill, Muscoda; Mrs. Allen (Birdell) Brehm, Whiting, Indiana; and Mrs. Ben (Lenore) Riplinger, Rockford, Ill. There is one grandson, Bill Berry.

Her sister, Mrs. Herbert Braun, and a brother, Charles Hanson, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Berry was a member of the W.B.A. Lodge, a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church, the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 149, Abbotsford and a member of the Colby Methodist church.

Among the relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Harry Feezor, Mrs. Ann Nelson, Chicago; Mrs. Rudolph Bakke, De Forest; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Braun and sons, of Granton; Mmes. Arthur Almberg, Hugo Almberg, Cody Hockstra, Ellis Bloom, Forest Lake, Minn.; Mrs. Al Berglund, Marine on St. Croix, Minn.; Mrs. Archie Elofson, Cambridge, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horn, Sheboygan; and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hoffman, of Stevens Point.
