Merwin, Reginald (1919? - 28 Apr. 1950)

Funeral services for Reginald Merwin, 31, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Merwin, of Wausau, and grandson of Mrs. Emily Merwin, of Abbotsford, Wisconsin, who was drowned Friday night in the Wisconsin River, were held Tuesday afternoon at a funeral home at Wausau.

Mr. Merwin, who was a movie projector operator, was on his way to work and being a little late due to illness at home, he took a short cut over a railroad trestle. He hit an obstruction which knocked off the front wheel of the bicycle and pitched him over the trestle. Mr. Merwin, a strong swimmer, was reported to have covered about 300 yards before the swollen river current carried him under. The body was recovered Saturday morning.

Mr. Merwin leaves an invalid wife and four small children. His parents and one brother, Gilbert, also survive.

Among those from here who attended the funeral were Mrs. Emily Merwin, Mrs. Ben Merwin, Mrs. Harold Merwin, Mrs. L. F. Loucks, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loucks, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Merwin and son, Robert, and daughter, Mrs. David Stieber, of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hennlich, Curtiss; and Mr. and Mrs. George Edwards, Owen.
