Andrew, Evelyn Margaret (Marriage - 22 Aug. 1950)

Miss Evelyn Margaret Andrew, and Robert J. Hemmy, both of Colby, Wisconsin were united in marriage at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic church at Colby, Wis. The Rev. N. B. Beschta read the nuptial ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Andrew and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hemmy, Colby, Wis.

For her wedding the bride was gowned in a dress of rayon marquisette featuring a bodice of lace, long sleeves coming to points over the wrists. It buttoned down the back. Her full skirt extended into a long train of lace, and her finger tip veil fell from a headdress of pearlized orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white gladioli and pink roses.

Mrs. Raymond Deml, Aurora, Ill., the bride’s sister, was the matron of honor, and the bridesmaids were Vernon Ellis, Magomanie, and Mrs. Arthur Hemmy, Jr., Juneau.

The three attendants were gowned alike in taffeta dresses of yellow, light green and lavender, respectively. The dresses were styled with ruffles down the back, a rayon marquisette yoke, and matching gauntlets. Each attendant carried a bouquet of gladioli and asters and wore an aster in their hair.

The groom’s brother, Arthur Hemmy, Jr., was best man, while two brothers of the bride, Ralph and Lloyd Andrew, were the groomsmen. Howard Kumbier ushered for the ceremony.

A dinner was served at the home of the bride’s parents after the ceremony.

The couple are both graduates of the Colby High School. The bride is employed as bookkeeper at the Commonwealth Telephone Co. and the groom owns and manages the Colby Theatre.
