Clintsman, Ellen (14 FEB 1869 - 16 JAN 1952)

Ellen Burnett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Barnett, was born Feb. 14, 1869 at Greenleaf, Wis. At the age of eight she moved with her parents to Concordia, Kansas.

In 1888 she was united in marriage to the Rev. Charles Clintsman at Concordia. They moved to the Town of York, Clark County in 1891 and in 1920 to a farm eight miles southwest of Greenwood.

After the death of her husband in 1926, she lived with her children for six years. In 1932 she went to live with her brother, Warren Barnett a few miles from here and 12 years ago they moved to this city.

Mrs. Clintsman, who had been a semi-invalid for the last five years with arthritis, fell and broke her hip on Dec. 31, 1951, and she was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where she passed away on Wednesday morning, Jan. 16, 1952.

The body was brought to the Schiller Funeral Parlors, where it lay it state until Saturday, Jan. 19, when funeral services were held at the Grace Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m, with the Rev. Lee Holmes, pastor, officiating. She was laid to rest in the Neillsville Cemetery beside her husband.

During the service Mrs. Chal Perkins and Miss Evangeline Sheets sang "Asleep in Jesus", "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner at the piano.

Mrs. Clintsman is survived by three sons, Floyd, Owen; and Fred and Francis, Greenwood; four daughters, Miss Inez Clintsman, at home; Mrs. Ollie Leininger, Oshkosh; Mrs. Rachel Brager, St. Paul; Mrs. Celia Berthold, Willard; 18 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Warren, Greenwood, and three sisters, Mrs. Etta Schuman, South Beloit, Ill.; Mrs. Abbie Nord, Park Rapids, Minn.; and Mrs. Clarea Bremer, Neillsville.

Her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Verna Turner, three sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

The pallbearers were her six grandsons, Teddy Clintsman, Robert Clintsman, Donald Berthold, Victor Berthold, James Berthold and Vernon Turner.

He granddaughters had charge the flowers. They were Mrs. Willis (Irene) Hohman, , Shirley and Nellie Clintsman, Lorraine Berthold and Mrs. Donald (Nettie) Berthold.

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Rachel Brager, St. Paul; Mrs. Olive Leininger, Oshkosh, Miss Shirley Clintsman, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Dimler, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dillenbeck, Marshfield; Mrs. Nellie Clinstman, Alma Center; Mrs. Willis Hohman and daughter, Arcadia; Miss Lorraine Berthold, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Turner, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Berthold, Wis. Dells; Miss Hilda Blaue, Miss Evelyn Kuehn and James Turner, Pittsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Bud) Bremer, Neillsville.
