Elpert, Mary J. (29 MAY 1885 - 15 SEP 1945)

 

A requiem high mass for Mrs. Mary Josephine Elpert, 60, was conducted at 9 a.m. last week Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic church, with the Rev. Aloys Zinthefer officiating. Mrs. Elpert passed away at her farm house on Route two at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 15.

 

Mrs. Elpert (nee Mary Tieskaetter) was born at Festina, Ia., on May 29, 1885. She attended St. Mary’s school in Festina and was married to John Elpert in that city on Feb. 7, 1911. After their marriage, they moved to Medford and made their home in the town of Browning (Taylor county) for 19 years. They have also lived at Curtiss. Withee  and Abbotsford, coming to Loyal a year and a half ago.

 

Surviving, besides her husband are: seven children, Mrs. John (Erma) Anderson and Ewald Elpert of Colby, Pfc. Arnold Elpert, with the army in Germany, Mrs. Ed (Ida) Goodwin of San Antonio, Tex., Walter Elpert of Curtiss, Joseph Elpert, S1/c, with the navy at Memphis, Tenn., and Francis Elpert, at home; five grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters. Three sisters preceded her in death.

 

Attending the funeral from out og town were: Mr. and Mrs. Barney Tieskaetter of Ossian, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. William Tieskaetter and Mrs. Irvin Tieskaetter of Decorah, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Timp of Burr Oak, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Jensen and Alma Hanson of Medford, Ewald Elpert and Mr. and Mrs. John E. Anderson of Colby, Joseph Elpert, S1/c, of Memphis, Tenn., and Walter Elpert of Curtiss.

 

Pall bearers were Joe Hubing, Joe Wendel, Andrew Schmidt, Clarence Froeba, Henry Degenhardt and Tony Wjchlacz. Burial was in St. Anthony’s cemetery..

 

The Tribune adds its sympathy to that of friends and neighbors to the bereaved relatives.
