McAdams, George W. #2 (9 SEP 1817 - 10 MAR 1909)

 

George W. McAdams, a former resident of Clark County, died at Kensington, Kansas, March 10, 1909, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. J. Dimond.  He was born in Somersett, Penn., and was aged 91 years, 6 months and 1 day.  He was married in 1849 to Mary Ann Hamaker, and to this union were born eleven children, seven of whom are left to mourn his demise.  The children are, Robert of Portland, Ore., J. W. of Neillsville, Sheldon of Clintonville, Wis., Mrs. W. J. Dimond, Mrs. James Robison, Joseph and George of Kensington, Kans.  Mr. McAdams and family moved to Clark County in 1857, resided here until 1877 when they removed to Smith County, Kansas, where Mrs. McAdams died in 1880.  The same fall Mr. McAdams and children removed to Rawlins Co., Kansas, where he resided until 1898, when he went to Kensington to make his home with his daughter.  Mr. McAdams is well remembered in Neillsville by many of his old friends as a very genial and clever gentleman.
