Weinand, Bernard (1848 - 24 APR 1909)

Nick Blau returned Saturday from Milwaukee where he attended the funeral of Bernard Weinand, who was once a resident of Neillsville (Clark Co., Wis.).  Concerning Mr. Weinand’s death the West Bend News last week contained the following:

"Bernard Weinand, formerly of the town of Trenton and of this city, died at his home in Milwaukee last Saturday afternoon, April 24th, 1909.  He had been ill but a short time, death being due to pneumonia.

Mr. Weinand was born in Merche, Kires Bitburg, Prussia in 1848.  In 1853 he immigrated to America with his parents and settled in the town of Trenton, Washington Co., Wis.  In 1894 he came to West Bend, and for five years lived here.  They in 1899 he removed to Milwaukee where he has been for the last ten years in the employ of the Northwestern R.R. Co.

In 1876 he was married to Miss Catherine Blau.  Seven children were born to them, four sons and three daughters.  They are: Theodore of So. Milwaukee, Peter, John, Nicolaus, Rosie, Lucy and Gertrude (Mrs. Molling) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Besides his children, his widow and one brother, Max Weinand of this city, survive him.

The remains arrived in West Bend this morning at 9 o’clock from Milwaukee, and were taken to Newburg for interment under the auspices of the Catholic Church, Rev. Nuttmann officiating.

Mr. Weinand has many friends in the county who regret his loss.  He was a member of the C.K. of W. and of St. Joseph’s Society of Newburg.  We extend to the mourners our sincere sympathy."
