  Loy, Joe #2 (1884? - 20 JUN 1909)

Sunday morning Joe Loy, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Loy, who live along Black River north of the mound (Clark Co., Wis.), left home to spend a few hours fishing.  He did not return all day, and his parents, becoming alarmed, instituted  a search for him.  Mr. Loy came to Neillsville to see if his son was at the home of his sister, but did not find him.  The search continued all Sunday night, and Monday morning the body of the young man was found in Mound Creek, lying in a foot of water.

Four or five years ago Joe accidentally shot himself, wounding himself in the head.  For a short time after he recovered from the accident he suffered from epileptic fits, cause by the injury to his head.  He seemed to have recovered, for the past couple of years he had not been trouble with the affliction.  It is supposed, however, that Sunday while fishing in the creek, he was taken with epilepsy, and falling into the water was drowned while in a comatose condition.

The accident was a very sorrowful one, for Joe was an industrious and painstaking young man.  He was born in Neillsville and was 24 years of age.  The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon, services being held in the Presbyterian Church.
