Meyer, Louis C. (28 AUG 1873 - 12 JAN 1952)

Friends of Louis Meyer, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were shocked late Saturday afternoon when they learned of his sudden death brought on by a heart attack.  Mr. Meyer apparently was in the best of health, not having complained of being ill to his wife or any of his friends.

He and Mrs. Meyer were getting ready to leave for Owen to do some shopping and visit at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weddig and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weddig.  Saying that he was going to get the car out of the garage, his wife proceeded to get her wraps on.  Thinking that it was taking him longer than usual to get the car, she went to the garage to check, finding him slumped against the door.  Mrs. Meyer immediately summoned her son Harvey Weddig, who, along with Dr. Koch hurried to the Meyer home only to find that he had succumbed almost immediately to a heart attack.

Funeral services were conducted at two o’clock yesterday afternoon from the First Congregational Church, Owen.  The Rev. Arthur Meinhardt officiated, with burial being made in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Lester Jens, Edgar Albert, John Jalling, Emil Hansen, Robert Meyer and Vernon Rigg.

Louis C. Meyer was born on Aug. 28, 1873 at Johnsonville, Wis., being 78 years of age.  After his education in the public schools her pursued the trade of masonry becoming accomplished in this art at which he made an ample livelihood for himself and family until his retirement 10 years ago.  He was united in marriage to Emma Weddig at Fond du Lac, but for the past 45 years had been a respected and pioneer resident of the village of Withee, always active in the welfare and progress of the community.  He had served a term as a member of the village board and has also served in the Spanish American War.

Grieved at the word of his sudden death is a wide circle of friends who extend their sympathies to those mourning his departure from their family circle, his widow; two sons, Lester, Appleton; and Lawrence, Hawthorne, Calif.; two step-sons, Harvey and Henry Weddig, Owen, one daughter, Mrs. Menroy (Irene) Steffen, Glenbeulah, Wis., one step-daughter, Mrs. Ed (Viola) Kenney, Cedarburg, Wis.
