Abbotsford, Wis. -- Lavern C. Marcott, 93, died at the Golden Living Center-Continental Manor on Friday, July 24, 2009. 
 

Funeral Services are pending with the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Wis.

Abbotsford, Wis. -- LaVern Charles Marcott, 93, of Abbotsford entered his eternal rest Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, Wis. 
 

His funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Wis. Perry Pearson and Jason Stein will both officiate. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. 
 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home in Abbotsford, Wis. Acting as his pallbearers will be Todd and Troy Hawks, Jeff Held, Landon, Laron and Lonnie Marcott. 
 

LaVern was born Nov. 18, 1915, in rural Dorchester, the son of Raymond and Martha (Brunner) Marcott. LaVern worked as a mechanic in various garages in Stetsonville, Abbotsford and Colby, Wis. He also worked in Milwaukee for AO Smith as a welder during World War II. He married the former Eldred E. Guth on June 28, 1939, in Medford. 
 

LaVern became the owner and operator of HiWay Auto Sales in Abbotsford and later moved the operation north of Abbotsford where it became HiWay Auto and Trailer Sales. Following his retirement in 1995, he and his wife resided in Abbotsford, Wis. His wife, Eldred, passed away Feb. 24, 2006. 
 

LaVern's heartfelt passion was talking to people and helping them. He was a dedicated family man and a devoted Christian. The man they called "Friendly Vern" who often enjoyed a good cup of coffee, will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. 
 

LaVern is survived by his children, Adele (David) Hawks of Las Vegas, Nev., Janice (Gerald) Held of Mosinee and Lenis (Gail) Marcott of Abbotsford; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Alva Bakken of Everett, Wash., and Doris (Bernard) Holcombe of Wayland, Mich.; and three brothers, Leon (Virginia) Marcott of Medford, Ralph (Mary) Marcott and Donald (Rose) Marcott both of Wayland, Mich. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Agnes, Ruth and Fran.
