Robert J. Sedlack Resident of Alameda died July 22, 2009 at the age of 88.  
 

He was born at Hibbing MN, son of William and Anna (Kautza) Sedlack.  
 

He graduated from Dorchester, WI high school.  
 

Upon graduation he joined the Marines and served his country during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he settled in California and learned the art of "glass blowing". He worked for Shell Oil Co where he met his first wife Marie Graves, later he worked for University of California Berkeley for 28 years.  
 

In 1970 he began his own business "California Custom Glass" which he was still active at the time of his death.  
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Bernice, and brother, James. His first wife, Marie, preceded him in death in 1997; he later married Esther Sandoval, who survives.  
 

Also, surviving are his two sisters, Agnes Habeck, of Oshkosh, WI and Alice Scidmore, of Minocqua, WI along with numerous step children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  
 

He especially enjoyed camping and trout fishing and riding his bike. At his request there was no memorial service.

Robert Sedlack, 88, died Tuesday, July 22, 2009. He was born in Hibbing, Minn., son of William and Anna (Kautza) Sedlack.
He graduated from Dorchester High School. Upon graduation he joined the Marines and served his country during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he settled in California and learned the art of “glass blowing.” He worked for Shell Oil Company where he met his first wife Marie Graves.
