Lester, Earl W. (28 DEC 1931 - 10 AUG 1952)

 

Pfc. Earl William Lester, son of Mr. Robert Lester, city, was killed in action while serving with the United State Marine Corps., on Sunday, August 10th, 1952.  Word of his death came in a telegram received by his father Thursday afternoon.

 

The message read:

 

"Deeply regret to inform you that your son Pfc. Earl William Lester, UMC, was killed in action August 10th, 1952, in the Korean ara in the performance of his duty and service to his country.

 

Please accept my most heartfelt sympathy in your bereavement.  Sorry no details available at present.

 

Our Marines who lose their lives are returned home for burial as soon as possible.  Any additional information received will be promptly forwarded.  His widow will be request to submit burial instructions."

Pfc. Lester was 21 years of age last Dec. 28th and enlisted in the Marine on Nov. 11th, 1951.  He has been in Korea since May 26th of this year.

 

He is survived by his father, and his wife and lives in Whitewater; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Kelm, Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Kenneth Schreber, Gorst, Wash., and Nelva Lester, Menomonie, and two brothers, Robert of Milwaukee and Larry of Chippewa Falls.
