Meeks, Ralph R. (24 APR 1885 - 19 AUG 1952)

Funeral services were conducted at two o’clock this afternoon for Ralph R. Meeks, 67, who passed away at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, where he had been a patient for the past 10 weeks, although his health has been failing for the past two years.  Services were conducted from St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, Owen, with Dr. K. O. Crosby officiating.  Burial was made at Greenwood.  Serving as pallbearers were Pete Madsen, Jay Eubanks, Jack Olds, Harvey Weddig, Walter Fritz and Shirleigh Grimes.

The deceased was born April 24, 1885 at Alma Center, Wis., where he lived until 1900, at which time his parents moved to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).  The couple was blessed with one son, Gordon, now of St. Paul, Minn.

For 46 years he had served as a conductor on the railroad, a position he retired from about 18 months ago.  For the past two years he and his wife have been residents of Owen, moving here from St. Paul and had built themselves a nice home in the city’s first ward.

Ralph Meeks was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Railway Conductors.  During his many eyars of railroading he had acquired a large host of friends as he did during his short residence in Owen through his mild manner and good natured humor.

Surviving him are his widow, son Gordon, a brother Hugh of Stevens Point and one granddaughter.
