Kallien, Elton F. (28 July 1928 - 17 Aug. 1952)

Funeral services for Elton F. Kallien, 23, Milan, who was killed instantly early Saturday when his car collided with a semi-trailer about a mile east of Eau Claire, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Evangelical and Reformed church of Colby. The Rev. W. H. Ortwein, of Wausau, officiated, and internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

The pallbearers were cousins of the deceased: Allen and Frederick Goldamer, Robert Klatt, Wilfred Brunner, Gene Voss and Ralph Bargenquast.

The flowers were carried by the Miss Delores Brunner, Geraldine Haderlein, Delores Ewan, cousins; and the Misses Darlene Haderlein, Shirley Rae Fasse, and Margaret Huhn.

Relatives attending the funeral came from Zanesfield, Ohio; Milwaukee, Jacksonport, West Bend, Rhinelander, River Falls, Minocqua, Marshfield, Milan, and vicinity.

Elton F. Kallien, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Kallien, Milan, was born July 28, 1928, at Marshfield. Until six years ago, the family lived on a farm near Milan and then moved to the village. Elton attended the Dixon school and then the Abbotsford high school, from where he was graduated in 1946. While attending high school, he took part in music and athletics and distinguished himself in baseball.

He recently graduated from River Falls State College and was to have started teaching in a rural school near New Richmond on Monday. During the past summer he was employed on a highway project and had planned to spend this week end at his home.

He is survived by his parents.
