After a prolonged illness, Walter Peterson, 77 years old, died at his farm home, Tuesday, July 21. Hardening of the arteries and a light stroke, suffered late in the winter, caused his death. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian church and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. The Rev. William Knobloch officiated at the rites.

The pallbearers were Clarence Chris, Morris Gierl, Sherman Harrop, William Hintz, Joe Kunze, and Adolph Schmitt.

Four grand daughters carried the flowers. They are the Misses Priscilla Peterson, Arlene and Bonnie Stobb, and Sharon Schoetzke.

Mr. Peterson was born in Denmark, Dec. 18, 1875, and when he was 18 years old, came to Delavan, Wis. A few years later he went to Withee where he married Bertha Bond in March, 1903. They lived on a farm at Withee and at Colby and about 40 years ago, moved to their present farm, three and one-half miles east and one-fourth mile south of Abbotsford.

Surviving are his widow, three sons, Lawrence, Abbotsford; Vernon, Neillsville; and Phillip, Abbotsford; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Lillian) Stobb, Ripon; Mrs. Leo (Lorraine) Stobb, Fairwater; and Mrs. William (Ruth) Schoetzke, Ripon; 20 grand children. Three children preceded him in death.

All of the children and grand children were here for the funeral. Other relatives and friends from away included: Mr. and Mrs. George Herbel, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Meyer and Hugo Klower, Neillsville; Art Folmher, of Brandon; and Claire Forreson, Osseo.
