Fred Hustedt was born at Longwood, Clark County, July 19, 1896. A year later he accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hustedt, to their new home in Chicago. He later attended the public schools there, and was reared and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 15 he came to the town of Rock. He entered the employ of Albert Paulson, who at that time operated a large dairy farm. Here Mr. Hustedt received his start as a Guernsey breeder, by purchasing a purebred heifer, Glenwood’s Jennie’s Fantine, which is still in his possession, and the foundation cow of his herd. He remained with Mr. Paulson seven and one-half years, after which he became herdsman for C. E. Blodgett at the Glencoe Guernsey Farm. The following year he accepted a position at the Marshfield Branch Experiment Station. In 1920 he purchased the Hans Jensen farm, in the town of Rock, where he has since made his home, building a fine herd of registered and high grade Guernseys. Besides being an officer of the county Guernsey Breeders Organization, he is also a director of the Nasonville Club, and a leader in 4-H Club work. 
 

He was married March 12, 1918, to Miss Mary Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hansen, pioneer residents of the town of Rock. They have two children: Omar 8 and Charlotte Ann 5. 
 

Politically, he is a Republican. Fraternally, he is affiliated with the Fraternal Reserve Association. His hobby is fitting cattle for the showing.
