Edward Louis Buchmiller was born at Unity, Wisconsin, November 20, 1886, and came to Marshfield when a boy. He graduated from the McKinley High School with the class of 1906, and from the Wausau Business Institute in the fall of 1908, then he accepted an office position in the Marshfield Building Company. In the fall of 1909 he accepted a position as stenographer with the Barker and Stewart Lumber Company in Wausau. He later entered the sales department of the B. Heinemann Lumber Company in the same city. In 1917 he became assistant sales manager of the Below Lumber Company at Stanley. On January 28, 1918, he enlisted in the 20th Engineers, United States Army, and was sent to Camp Leach, Washington, D.C. Later he was transferred to the medical department. Upon his release from the government service in 1919 he held the rank of sergeant, soon after which he accepted the position of cashier with W. D. Wheeler and Company of this city. On May 19, 1926, he was compelled to resign from this position because of ill health. 
 

Mr. Buchmiller was married to Miss Lillian Huber of Marshfield June 10, 1925. They have one child, Jean Audrey. 
 

He is a member of Forest Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Wausau; Marshfield Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, the Neillsville Commandery; K.T.; the Wisconsin consistory, the Tripoli Temple of the Shrine; Wausau Lodge 215 International Order of Odd Fellows; the Marshfield Encampment, International Order of Odd Fellows; the Marshfield Elks; the United Commercial Travelers and the local post of the American Legion, of which he is a charter member. 
 

Principal among the offices he has held in fraternal circles are noble grand of the Wausau Odd Fellows, chief patriarch of the Marshfield Odd Fellows, distribution committeeman of the Wisconsin General Encampment of the Odd Fellows, adjutant of the American Legion Post, secretary of the United Commercial Travelers, and king of the Marshfield Royal Arch Mason Chapter. Politically, he is a Republican. His hobby is boys’ work.
