Herman Frederick William Leschensky, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church at Loyal, since Febraury 1928, was born May 26, 1892, at Marion, Waupaca County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Leschensky, who still reside there. He received his elementary education in the Marion Public School, and entered St. Paul Luther College in 1908. At the close of his college course, he continued his studies at the seminary of the same institution, graduating in June 1915. On June 23 of the same year, he was ordained in the college church, and left July 18th for his first charge, at Scranton, North Dakota. Here he served five congregations, making the total circuit of 76 miles by means of horse and buggy. In January 1917 he was obliged to resign, owing to illness in the family due to alkali drinking water, and served ten months as home missionary at Columbus, Wisconsin. In November 1917 he took up his work at Lyons, Wisconsin, and two years later the Elkhorn congregation, 15 miles away. He conducted services at both places every Sunday for four years, leaving July 1, 1923, to accept a call to Elizabeth, Illinois. Here he remained until he accepted the call to Loyal.

He was married July 8, 1915, at Edgar to Miss Gertrude Bartelt, whose mother, Mrs. Bertha Bartelt, now makes her home at Lyons. The father died ten years ago. The Reverend and Mrs. Leschensky have four children: Eugene, Immanuel, Armin and Lorraine.

Politically, he is a Republican. His hobbies are pitching horseshoes and fishing.
