Harvey L. Flatz, who is one of the few whose birthday anniversaries occur every four years instead of annually, was born February 29, 1890, at Faribault, Minnesota, and was educated in public schools of that city. Later he moved with his parents to Scranton, and in 1910 went to Terry, Montana, where he acquired ownership of a ranch on which he raised purebred beef cattle and horses. After disposing of the property, he came to Greenwood, and in May 1926 purchased a filling station, which he has since conducted. In 1929 he acquired another station at Loyal. He was married December 29, 1916, to Miss Hazel Warner in the community church at Terry, Montana. They have one son, Dalmain.

Politically, he is a Republican. His hobby is fishing.
