Svenson, Sven (28 MAY 1876 - 11? JUL 1953)

 

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Methodist Church in Withee for Sven Svenson, 77, an early settler of this community.

 

Mr. Svenson passed away at his home in the Town of Maplehurst after several years of failing health.

 

Rev. Leland Shaw conducted the services and the singers were Mrs. Harris Johnson and Miss Nona Mertens, with Mrs. Glen Buchanan as organist.  Interment was at Riverside Cemetery with pallbearers being Frank Tormey, George Linde, Wm. Warns, Julius Rohland, Milfred Wenzel, and Rheinhold Buss.

 

Flower girls were Mrs. Milfred Wenzel, Mrs. Wm. Warns, Mrs. Julius Rohland, and Mrs. Frank Tormey.

 

Sven Svenson was born in Brakne Hoby Blakinge, Sweden, on May 28, 1876.  He was baptized, confirmed and received his education in Sweden before coming to the United States and settling in New Rockford, N.D. in March 1902.  He was united in marriage to Nellie Clouser on Jan. 6, 1909 and moved to Wisconsin in 1913 and has resided on his farm northwest of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) ever since.

 

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Svenson, one of whom died in infancy.  He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife and five children, Sidney Svenson of Withee; Mrs. Homer (Dorothy) Wortham of Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Arno (Olive) Jess of Menomonie, Wis.; Roy Svenson of Withee and Mrs. Raymond (Lois) O’Neil of Withee.  Other survivors include 11 grandchildren, a brother Olaf and sister Julia, both of Sweden.

 

Out of town friends and relatives attended the funeral were Mrs. Jack Dachel and daughter Judy, Mrs. Acel Card and son Jimmy, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Watts, all of Neenah, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Berton Watts of Eau Claire; Mrs. J. Bossart of Fargo, N.D.; Mr. Charles Clouser of New Rockford, N.D.; Gust Anderson of Sheyenne, N.D. and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Clouse and family of Loyal, Wis.
