Karpinski, Master Sgt Thomas (Retired - 10 July 2009)  
 

Master Sergeant Thomas Karpinski is the Superintendent of the Installation Personnel Readiness, 319th Force Support Squadron, 319th Mission Support Group, 319th Air Refueling Wing, Grand Forks AFB North Dakota.  Sergeant Karpinski was born in Thorp, Wisconsin, on January 16, 1967.  He attended Thorp High School graduating in June 1985.  He entered the delayed enlistment program in November 1984, and arrived at Lackland AFB, Texas, in September 1985. 
 

Upon completion of basic training and tech school, he received his first assignment to the 7241st Security Police Squadron, Izmir Air Station, Turkey. There he worked as town patrol, area supervisor in a munitions storage area, and desk sergeant.  In April 1986, he received his second assignment to the 410th Security Police Squadron, K. I. Sawyer AFB, Michigan. There he performed duties as installation patrolman and flight trainer.  
 

He cross-trained into the personnel career field in April of 1990.  Remaining at K. I. Sawyer AFB, MI, assigned to the 410th Consolidate Headquarters Squadron, Consolidate Base Personnel Office (CBPO).  
 

In March of 1995, he received his third assignment to Minot AFB, ND. While at Minot, he was assigned to the following organization: 5 MXS, 5 MUNS, and 5 MSS. 
 

In July 2001, he proceeded to his fourth and final assignment to Grand Forks AFB, ND.  During his time at Grand Forks, he was assigned to the 319 AGS/AMXS, 319 OG, an the 319 FSS. 
 

He is married to Gailann and has one son, Robert.  His parents, Chester and Alice Karpinski, along with his brothers, sisters and many friends, attended his retirement ceremony at Grand Forks AFB on July 10, 2009.
