Sommer, Pauline #3 (19 JUN 1855 - 1 JAN 1954)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline L. Sommer, 98, of Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.) were held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Green Grove and Colby.  Rev. Wm. Grafe was the officiating clergyman.

 

Pallbearers were: Sylvan Sommer, Victor Heschke, Walter Laabs, Adolph Stacke, Otto Sommer, Jr., and Donald Sommer, all grandsons of the deceased.

 

The church choir, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Stocker, sang, "Now the Light Has Gone Away" and "Asleep in Jesus."  The Ladies Aid, of which she was a member, sang "Nearer My God to Thee."

 

Mrs. Sommer passed away on New Year’s Day at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Woik, with whom she had made her home for the past 17 years.  Death was caused due to old age complications.

 

Mrs. Sommer was born June 19, 1855 in Germany.  When a young child she came to this country with her parents, settling in Sheboygan County.  She received her education in this country.  On Feb. 19, 1874 she was united in marriage to William Sommer of Chciago, Ill.  In 1880 they moved to the Town of Green Grove, settling on a farm which is now occupied by a grandson, Vernon Sommer.

 

In 1937, because of ill health, she came to make her home with her youngest daughter, Mrs. Paul Woik.  She was a good Christian mother and was well liked by all who knew her.  She was preceded in death by her husband and the following children, Mrs. Louise Galles, Mrs. Selma Reschke, Hilda Sommer, and William Sommer, who passed away this past Dec. 8th.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and one sister.

 

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Lydia Laabs, Otto Sommer, Theodore Sommer, Rev. A. G. Sommer and Mrs. Paul Woik.  She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, besides many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Kronour of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. William Sommer, Vernice Sommer, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan Sommer, Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Sommer, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sommer, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sommer, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stocker, all of Neenah, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Heschke,, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Heschke, Mrs. Ernest Lutzke of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Art Olm of Sheboygan Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Olm, Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Meyer, Mrs. Hulda Schueler, of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Laack of Hilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zarnoth, Mrs. Herbert Hoge, Lenora Olm and Adolph Bubolz, all of Reedsville, Mrs. Walter Olm of Collins, Mrs. Henry Draheim, Mrs. C. C. Brick of Chilton, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sy of Valders, Herman Olm of Brillion, Elmer Olm, Mr. and Mrs. Hans H. Hennlich and family, Mr. and Mrs. Norwood Krueger and family of Milwaukee, Rev. and Mrs. C. J. Seegers of Antigo, Mrs. Elda Sommer of Merrill, and many other relatives and friends from surrounding communities.
