Schilling, Edith E. (23 January 1913 - 12 September 2009) 
 

Edith E. Schilling, 96, of Marshfield died peacefully Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at House of the Dove, Marshfield. 
 

Edith was born Jan. 23, 1913, in Marshfield, to Thoefield, and Alma (Gossett) Moss.  At the age of six Edith moved with her family to the Chili area. She attended the Town of Fremont Elementary School and Marshfield Senior High School.  On June 4, 1931, in the Town of Chili, the former Edith Moss was united in marriage to Ezra Schilling.  He preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1977. 
 

Edith farmed along side her husband Ezra on their Town of Chili farm until 1973, when the couple moved into their new home.  In 1992, Edith moved to Marshfield and resided at Norris Manor Apartments where she was currently living. 
 

Mrs. Schilling was an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Chili, where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years. She held various offices including past president of the Chili United Methodist Women. 
 

Edith enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, crocheting and being involved with her church groups. She also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Marshfield Care Center for many years. 
 

She is lovingly survived by her children, Betty Bartsch, Plover; Bernice Zakrzewski, Stevens Point; Lewis (Carol) Schilling, Chicago, IL; and Gene (Janet) Schilling, Arkdale.  Edith is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.   
 

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, as well as one brother, Victor Moss. 
 

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Sally Rendell will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time at the Funeral Home Wednesday. Burial will take place in the Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery in the Town of Fremont.  Mrs. Schilling’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. 
 

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Mrs. Schilling’s memory are encouraged to do so to Ministry Home Care Hospice or a charity of your choice.
