Laakso, Ingrid #2 (8 MAR 1886 - 15 APR 1954)

Final rites for Mrs. Solomon Laakso, age 68, were held Saturday, April 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Griebenow Funeral Home with Rev. Nielsen of Withee officiating.  She was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.

Ingrid Laakso, nee Wauska, was born in Finland on March 8, 1866, and came to this country in 1903.  She settled in Marquette, Mich., where on Sept. 23, 1905, she was united in marriage to Solomon Laakso.  They lived there until 1912, when they moved to a farm north of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).  Seven children were born of this union, three sons and four daughters, of whom one daughter died in infancy.

In 1946 they retired and moved to the city of Owen where she acquired many new friends as she always did with her quiet, loving and thoughtful ways.

She passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on April 15th, 1954, of a heart attack.

Serving as pallbearers were Victor Mattila, Andrew Kallio, Henry Cass, Santeri Varjonen, John Siikarla and Frank Maki.

Mourning her death are her husband, Solomon Laakso; three sons, Einar and Arne of Owen, and Elmer of Portage; three daughters, Mrs. Emil McKinen of Waukegan, Ill., Mrs. Martha Huggins of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Emil Potocnik of Owen; one brother, Arne Wauska of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Chas. Hellerstedt of New York City, and 13 grandchildren.
