Fristad, Joan (Marriage - 26 May 1956)

Marriage vows were exchanged between Miss Joan Fristad and Mr. Peter Goeldner, Saturday, May 26, at the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. Richard Harrison performed the ceremony at 10:30 o’clock.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fristad, of Colby, and the groom is a son the Ernest Goeldners, of Ingram.

For her wedding, the bride wore a gown featuring a Queen Anne collar on a nylon lace bodice. Five nylon panels detailed the floor length, net skirt. Her finger tip veil was secured to a pill crown studded with pearls.

Attending the couple were Miss Norma Fristad, sister of the bride, of Colby, as maid of honor and Russ Creaser, of Gilman, as best man. Other attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Russ Decker, Miss Selma Fristad, Colby; and Gerald Miller, Glenflora. Miss Connie Shackleton, niece of the bride, of Appleton, and Woodrow Wiedenhoeft, of Colby, was ring bearer.

The bride’s attendants wore orchid floor length, strapless gowns with a bolero. Five rows of ruching circled the bottoms of the floor length, net skirts. Their matching head pieces were of lace and velveteen. They carried yellow and white carnations.

During the ceremony, Robert Cleworth, of Wisconsin Rapids, sang "Because," and "The Lord’s Prayer." Mrs. Howard Rannow, Colby, was organist.

The immediate family and a few intimate friends were with the bridal party at a dinner and reception and supper for about 200 guests was served in the afternoon. In the evening the new Mr. and Mrs. Goeldner greeted friends at a wedding dance at the Colby Park Pavilion.

Both young people are graduates of the Taylor County Teachers’ College, Medford. The bride taught at Spencer the past year.

They will make their home at Poplar, Montana, where they will continue in the teaching field.
