Osgood, Mr. and Mrs. Myron (Golden - 20 February 1953)

Granton News: By Mrs. F. E. Winn -

Mr. and Mrs. Myron Osgood quietly observed  their 50th wedding anniversary at their home Friday, February 20.  But Saturday evening a number of relatives and close friends gathered at the Community Hall and gave them a surprise celebration.  Mr. and Mrs. Osgood were united in marriage at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Davis, by the Rev. Campbell, pastor of the Neillsville Methodist Church.

The young couple lived in the village where Myron did carpenter work and assisted his uncle in a planing mill for some time. But both were interested in farming and after managing her father’s farm for a few years, they purchased a farm of their own and lived there for several years.  They disposed of this farm and returned to her father’s farm which they later purchased.  Here Mr. Osgood built up a fine herd of purebred and grade Holsteins and erected one of the first modern dairy barns in this section.

Several years later they disposed of this farm and Mr. and Mrs. Osgood spent several years at the Racine County Farm, where he was herdsman and Mrs. Osgood had charge of the kitchen. Since returning here some time ago, Mrs. Osgood has been librarian at the Samson Memorial Library and is now vice president of the Woman’s Club.

Guests from away at the party Saturday night were their only child and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Billman, East Troy, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Marsh, Milwaukee.
