Marden, Mr. and Mrs. William (57th Anniversary - 1 September 1953) 
 

Fifty-four relatives and friends attended the service at 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Grace Methodist Church and the open house and reception held in the church basement honoring Mr. and Mrs. William Marden in observance of their 57th wedding anniversary. 
 

There was special music, with Charles Ivey as accompanist.  A program was given in the church dining hall.  The Misses Gladys and Carol Drew, Miss Nettie Miller, and Mrs. E. Elmer sang.  The dining tables were decorated with vases of cut flowers.  A pot luck lunch was served.  
 

William Marden was born in Lloyd, Wis., March 22, 1875.  Mrs. Marden, the former Daisy Hale, was born July 21, 1880, in Lime Ridge Sauk County.  Mrs. Marden has been a resident of Clark County since she was 11 years old.  Mr. Marden came to Clark County at the age of five years. 
 

They were married in Hewettville near Neillsville, September 1, 1896.  They lived in Neillsville before coming to Greenwood 38 years ago.  Mr. Marden has been in the jewelry business for the past 50 years. 
 

Two children were born to the Mardens, the late Mrs. George (Vivian) Clow and the late Kenneth Marden. 
 

The Mardens have three grandchildren, Mrs. Jack (Betty Lou Marden) Kruger of Loyal; Kenneth Marden, Jr., of the U. S. Navy, and Mrs. John (Billie Jean Clow) Howard of Elmonte, Cal.; also three great-grandchildren, Priscilla Ann and Kathleen Kruger of Loyal and Stanley Howard of Elmonte, Cal. 
 

Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kruger and daughters Priscilla and Kathleen, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kruger and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Loos of Loyal.  
 

The Mardens received gifts, a purse of money and many congratulatory messages.
